The scarab is the oldest design continuously used in jewelry. The scarab represents transformation and the way our lives grow and who we become. The molds William Travis used to make these pieces of art were the bodies of native North Carolina scarabs themselves. Each is unique and not duplicable.
Travis, a Raleigh artist, is proud of having taken a symbol that has been used in jewelry for thousands of years to create these pieces. But what he is most proud of is being able to give back to the community in which he lives and works. All proceeds from these pieces will benefit the North Carolina Museum of Art.
